Battlefield 1942 | Annonce
Les maps et les serveurs de Battlefield 1942
Le site The Modding Theatre
Donc une version linux du serveur sera prévue à la sortie du jeu ou un peu après.16 Player - 1 Ghz/128 MB RAM/WinOs (not much difference noted among OSes)
32 Player - 1 Ghz+/128+ (256 is best)
48+ Players - 2 Ghz/256+ (512 is best)
As for bandwidth...that's our biggest challenge. Currently a server hosting 16+ players will require a 1 MB upload pipeline.
We'll also be releasing a version of the server for Linux machines....but that will probably be right as or right after the game ships. And we'll continue to explore lowering the bandwidth reqs of the server...to make it more accessible to people who don't have access to a T1.

Business
ProGaming, remettons en une couche
Et pendant ce temps, chez XSReality un columnist se moque éhontément de Munoz, de sa CPL et du ProGaming en général :"More and more people are playing computers, more people are interested in this league," says Munoz. "More and more people are interested in gamers and what happens at an event like this, so this is our best year ever."
Troll droit devant!CPL are not one step closer to it being a real sport today then it was 4 years ago. CPL lives and dies solely on the money Intel and others are pumping in. They aren't generating any money at all. Their target audience are not prepared to pay a single cent (there are probably a few that are, but will that be able to support even the network setup on a LAN? Of course not) for their "sport". If the CPL would ask you to pay a dollar for downloading a demo from CPL events, to support the CPL growing - most would simply DCC them amongst themselves.

Counter-Strike | Interview
GameGal a
How does someone join GirlzClan?
A: Well they obviously have to be female. In order to officially join the clan, they would need to speak with one or more of the *Girlz* leaders. By speaking I mean [voice-to-] voice with one of us. It's the only way we can be sure they are female. [...]

Mod

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl | Interview
STALKER : interview
The game is powered by our in-house engine X-Ray, which is a brand new high-tech engine supporting an array of cutting-edge technologies. X-Ray allows combining both indoor and immense outdoor areas with high geometry detailing (about 100.000 polygons per frame). Owing to hardware T&L optimizing, continuous progressive detailing technology for entire geometry, powerful system of visibility defining, which uses not only sector-portal ideology, but also antiportals for occlusion culling - 60 fps are easily attained even on average computer configuration. The system of skeleton animation allows using motion-capture hardware to create smooth and realistic character movements. Along with use of detailed textures, geometry detailing objects are utilized too for level surfaces (grass, rocks, etc). The engine uses as direct model of lighting, so as "radiosity", along with colored dynamic lighting and dynamic "soft" shadows.

Counter-Strike | Cheat

Y-Project | Interview
Y-Project
One media game site compared The Y Project to Deus Ex [and System Shock]. Do you feel this is a viable comparison? And if so, how do you feel about such high expectations?
[...] we certainly think our storyline will be on the same level as the ones of the aforementioned classics. However, we will definitely set us apart from those titles by introducing a new kind of game play. As already mentioned the "Y- Project’s" game play adapts to the players’ decisions. For the first time, each and every player will have a unique gaming experience depending on their gaming style. This new approach will satisfy shooter, adventure and RPG fans alike. If you want to rush through the levels, very well, feel free to concentrate on the main quests and skip through the rest of the text, but prepare for a more difficult game. If you’re really into the storyline and want to squeeze every little drop of information out of it, feel free to do so, too.

Metal Drift | Interview
So, tell us about Metal Drift. Is it going to compete with Tribes?
JF: I don't know, I doubt it will. It's going to be much more vehicular based, you're going to have a lot more different types of units with different mechanics per unit than in Tribes. It's not going to have the flying jetpack. It's doing what Tribes 2 tried to do - create an epic battlefield, with all these different environments. Tribes had indoor/outdoor, Tribes 2 had some water, but it didn't quite make you feel like you're immersed in an environment, and we're really pushing that with Metal Drift: total immersion with different environments that exist.
