L'économie US du jeu vidéo s'est prise hier une petite claque suite à la correction réalisée par un analyste financier. Malgré des résultats en hausse constante, l'analyste explique que l'industrie du jeu vidéo serait actuellement trop optimiste :

In a research note to clients, Wallace said the industry was generally on track for a record-breaking year with hardware and software sales ahead of estimates. But he expressed caution about certain publishing companies.

"We do not believe that all of the publishers are participating equally," he said. "Additionally, we think the publishers' stocks are going to look past the 2002 holiday season and begin trading on 2003 numbers."

For the year, only two video game publishers have seen their shares rise, Electronic Arts and Take- Two. They have been the most successful on the year, EA with its "Madden" football franchise and "Medal of Honor" games and Take-Two with the blockbuster "Grand Theft Auto" series of criminal adventures.
