Pas encore de quake sur les téléphones portables
En bref, avec 400ms on est pas prêt de pouvoir jouer à Doom3 en se connectant en UMTS sur un téléphone portable. Où alors il faudra créer des ligues lpb, hpb et UMTS.The first UMTS end-to-end demonstration has been done with success to Orange Sweden.
For CS, it has been shown fixed phone to mobile phone call, and then mobile phone to mobile phone call.
For PS, it has been shown ping (400ms), FTP transfer (250kbit/s), web browsing, live TV (Bloomberg, 56kbit/s), Streaming movies (64kbit/s), and mail.
People from Orange France were also present, and they were happy and really impressed to see our product working so good (even if some problems remain).
Pour info, CS ne signifie pas Counter Strike mais Circuit Switch: ca correspond à la voix (téléphone). Et tant que j'y suis, PS c'est Packet Switch: ca correspond au réseau orienté données (exemple IP/internet).

Nouvelle skin pour Urban Terror
The "Red" Teams [Desert, TAG and Terror] will now have tan helmets and vests. The boots, belts and holsters have also been changed to tan so it's easier to identify these skins. The "Blue" Teams (Cobra, SWAT and Urban) have charcoal vests and helmets. The clothing on SWAT, TAG and Terror has been lightened to bring out the detail that has been too dark to see in game. These models are shown without the colored arms and leg bands that identify them as 'Red Team' or 'Blue Team'.

On notera dans l'article deux informations interessantes:
- le projet n'a pas pour but d'apprendre à tirer ou à viser. Il a pour objet d'entrainer les soldats à préparer une mission et à prendre des décisions.
- les FPS tels quels ne sont d'aucunes utilité aux groupes terroristes (le Cmd Mitch nous aurait-il menti!)
GameSpy: Would you have allowed LB & B Associates to use the RS engine if it was going to be used to train people to kill terrorists as opposed to training soldiers in decision-making and preparation?
Upton: This is kind of an odd question, because in my conversations with our military contacts they've been pretty unanimous about first-person shooters being poor training for actual weapons use.
GameSpy: Do you think there's too much realism in RS? Do you think it could be used by an organized terrorist group to train soldiers to deal with anti-terrorist groups?
Upton: Every technique in the game is readily available from non-classified sources. We're probably about as useful to real terrorists as playing paintball.
